From Forecastle to Cabin
This is the autobiography of an American who ran away to sea at the age of 11 and charts his rise from the lowliest seaman to the command of his own ship and the occupation of the luxurious after cabin. Best known as captain of the Dreadnought in his later years, Samuel Samuels was often in danger both ashore and afloat, and his many adventures make excellent stories.
