The book discusses western fighting techniques drawn from a variety of sources including commando tactics, traditional occidental self-defense techniques, boxing and wrestling. There is discussion on the history of western fighting techniques including the ancient Greek art of pankration, Roman fighting arts, French savate and other western types of personal combat defense. There are lessons in physical conditioning, the foundation of defense, punching, kicking, avoiding being hit, and combinations nations of fighting techniques. Included is a special section on strategy which teaches how to handle fighters of different sizes and strengths. There is also a discussion on strategies for dealing with different types of aggressors.
Fred Neff has published numerous magazine articles, as well as children's books and is making his debut in non-fiction self-help with Clues to Success-Making Rhyme out of Reason. He received his bachelor's degree in Journalism from San Diego State University and was also on the start-up staff as an intern for a new publication, gaining his first byline in the premier issue of San Diego Home/Garden Magazine.
