Archibald Rutledge (1883-1973) was the beloved poet laureate of South Carolina and a noted author of hunting titles; this is his rarely-seen second book. Inscribed to Dr. Albert Parker Fitch (1877-1944), a noted theologian and author (Preaching and Paganism), it also includes a handwritten letter to Dr. Fitch: “Dear Albert, It is a common crime of modern society for a man to give another a book of his own poems. But you always make me feel generous-hearted; and what else have I to give you but myself?”
