This first-issue copy has the word “transmitted” on p 297 of volume 1; volume 2 includes errata on verso of title page and printer’s note on verso of half-title, and Darwin’s note on a “serious and unfortunate error.” On p 2 of volume 1, the word “evolution” occurs for the first time in any of Darwin’s works.
