Modern composer Steve Reich has influenced many other composers and musical groups, including John Adams, the progressive rock band King Crimson, the new-age guitarist Michael Hedges, the art-pop and electronic musician Brian Eno, and the experimental art/music group The Residents. Awarded the Pulitzer Prize for music in 2009, Writings about Music is one of only two books written by Reich, and discusses the universality of rhythmic structures in music and how intuition plays a part in the author’s composition process.
